DCA Family Visit August, 2001

Four of us got to DCA, as locals call Disney's California Adventure, before it's 9:00 opening on Friday, and headed to the Grizzley Rapids rafting ride where we got eight fast passes and rode the ride twice. (Ok, so Michael rode it three times.) We hit Soarin', Screamin', and gathered more fast passes as soon as we could. Four more arrived around noon, and we went off to cow country -- Bountiful Farms.

We heard that Minnie Mouse was arriving from her around-the-world solo flight to Disney parks in Florida, Paris and Japan. Of course we had to be in Condor Flats to greet her.

After lunch we went back to the farm and visited with Flick. We got a surprise audience with the Princess, but I can't think of her name just now. Guess I'll have to watch A Bug's Life tonight to find out.

While we were at the farm, we helped Mickey Mouse with his garden. There was a craft area where we made butterflies and other works of art.

The last four arrived just before the 4:30 Eureka parade. That gave us a good excuse to go on the big rides again with our fast passes and see It's Hard to be a Bug, starring our friend Flick. THIS TIME we remembered to get a group shot. After that we went to The Challenge Trail, and saw the Electrical Parade before riding Superstar Limosine.A few of us had already headed into the inner sanctum of the Muppets Theater when the the photo below right was taken.
