2002![]() Left-facing crescent in center of paper shows shadow of solar eclipse, which an alert cast member helped a few other guests and me enjoy on Main Street. |
The coming solar eclipse mentioned in Saturday's newspaper wasn't on my mind that Monday afternoon as I was leaving Disneyland. At least it wasn't until I noticed a cast member on Main Street holding two pieces of paper parallel to one another. Mild curiosity quickly turned to a realization of what he was doing; watching the eclipse the safe way -- via shadow! The upper paper had a tiny hole and he was focusing sunlight through that hole onto the other paper. I can no longer remember the cast member's name, but did remember it long enough to write a favorable comment about him at City Hall before leaving The Park. If you know him, or ARE him, please email me so I can correct this oversite. |

Today must have been "Bring a Pet to Work Day". Debbie proudly and gently displayed an African Millipede at the Tarzan Treehouse. Not sure which of the two is the More special employee. Wish you could see the legs better in the photo (no, not Debbie's, the bug's). There are literally around 1,000 of them. We got an extra special treat when Debbie let us pet this exotic bug. |

Congratulations CMS Bob Bob, at Carnation Main Street, on winning the GOLDEN Spirit Award This is equivalent of an Oscar for Disneyland cast members. We're happy for him and pleased that Disneyland confirmed what guests already know about Bob. We may have been as excited as Bob to see him featured on the cover of the October 15, 1999 Disneyland Line (the Disneyland Cast Members' magazine). Favorite quote from the article: "Bob said he has two favorite kinds of Guests -- first time visitors and repeat Guests." Carnation Main Street Bob has been with Disney 27 years! Bob is cheery and informative, and really good at remembering faces, so frequent guests feel right at home. We always enjoy seeing his familiar face at breakfast and chatting a bit. Bob just makes his guests feel extra special. |

It's always a treat to see Scott, at Big Thunder Barbecue, who not only clears tables, but also entertains with close magic for a lucky few. Here he is with "Billy in Training", Scotty. Though Scott is pictured, we'll miss the whole cast at BTB now that the Hillbillies are back at the Golden Horseshoe. Everyone is friendly, let us stay all day and sneak in an occasional birthday cupcake. They even loaned us a lighter for the birthday candle. Tables are cleared quickly by people always ready to share a friendly word. The food is good, and they let us buy the Portobello mushroom even when it wasn't on the menu. The ice tea is fresh and refills plentiful. Thanks to Portia for the extra chips, and to everyone there who makes that restaurant so special. Oh, and "happy birthday" Veronica. |

Wherever Cory works he always has, and creates, fun. We've seen him on Mulan parade crowd control, driving the fire engine on Main Street, the Tarzan Treehouse... You just never know where he'll be spotted next. |

What a shame, we don't know her name. However we enjoyed her singing as one of the Main Street Carolers, and how graciously she talked to the audience while helping to set up for the caroling. She was cutting up as the crowd dispersed. Note 2/19/2000: Looking at this picture again now, she looks very much like the person who plays the mermaid in the current Animazement show. 8/5/00 Our thanks to the former Quasimodo who emailed to confirm she can be seen stylin' in fins, fruit hat & leopard skin (not at the same time) in Animazement. |
