Picture Tubes & Layers

A tube was used to make the background for the banner above. The second layer is a 60% opaque eclipse. The third layer contains the text with a drop shadow.

I made the tube by selecting one blossom from a photograph, then copying and pasting it as a new image. This was repeated with two more photos. The images were resized to all be the same width & height, copied as transparent gifs into this file, then exported it as a tube, as you can too.

The bar is simply a stroke of this tube using a small size.

More Layers

Beary concerned Fiddle Billy bearly beat the bear
These photos are another use of layers. They started with scanned photos of my favorite band, Billy and the Hillbillies, at Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe. The bear pictures are from a scanned postcard of the animated attraction, Bear Country Jamboree. Each bear went in as a separate layer, with opacity set to about 50%. For the front bear at left, I erased everything but the bear in the layer, then increased opacity to 100%. The others were done in similar fashion, going back and forth between bear and background layers, changing opacity, and erasing what wasn't needed from each layer.

These are on my homepage at The Hillbillies Meet the Country Bears. Use your browser's back button to get back here.

The button is filled with a portion of the flower layer from the banner, and buttonized. The text was added on a layer in black, then in another layer in another color.
