| Our last update, an off-theme page of European
Castles, was the first time we made desktop wallpaper available in a size
larger than 640 x 480. The larger size continues here. If you like the
larger sizes email to let us know.
They take two or three times as much precious web host space, and could soon
get expensive. If we don't hear from you we'll go back to all 640 x480 size in
coming pages.
This is a Sprin- to-Fall page. Just couldn't resist showing the Mohave Yucca, a true native of our hometown, Yucca Valley, in its beautiful full bloom -- in May. Last week while shopping, these setting-sun rays whispered "There's a camera in your purse". So, it came out in the Yucca Valley Wallmart parking lot, and here's the result. Picture three is part of the "Blessing Little Children" statue grouping at Desert Christ Park. One could live in Yucca Valley quite awhile without discovering this unique park displaying scenes with larger-than-life concrete figures . Visiting friends showed it to us months ago, but it took awhile to find this week when I went to photograph it. Should you be passing through our town, it's worth a few minutes' visit. From 29 Palms Highway, turn north on Mohawk Trail. (For newcomers, north may seem like west. Between the 10 Freeway and here the road curved and it's now parallel, rather than perpendicular, to the freeway) There's one left jog in the road, then continue north up a dirt road when you see the enormous statues. Next is a typical summer desert scene taken a couple of steps out of our jeep while just exploring the local area. It's my current desktop wallpaper, so maybe someone else will like it too. We were going to go back to the 4-picture format this time, but Sonora insisted this one of him, walking across a bridge at Twin Lakes last September, should go up as a "Fall" scene. I still have the scar from the last argument I lost with his cage mate, Chiquita. Sonora is bigger. Argument ended. |
