| We just marked the sunset of 1998 at Glamis, California, Sand Toy Capitol of the World. It's 28 miles from Algodones, Mexico and 35 miles from Yuma Arizona. The population increases from 4 to over 100,000 on holiday weekends.
About an inch in from the bottom left corner of the wallpaper is the small dark silhouette of one of the many large helium balloons used to mark a camp site so campers riding quads, ATV's, sand rails etc. in the hundreds of thousands of acres
of sand dunes can find their way back to their camp site among thousands of trailers and motorhomes.
January is a particularly nice month to visit the Los Angeles Zoo. It's a bit cooler than summer, and the animals are more active. The Disneyland Hotel is under reconstruction, but for now there's still a nice shaded walk where you'll find waterfalls and
this koi pond.
